PM's visits to Australia and New Zealand a success, says FM

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance of the Special Summit commemorating the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Australia relations and the official visits to Australia and New Zealand were successful in all aspects, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on Monday.

Responding to the press about the trip’s outcomes, FM Son said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's comprehensive and strategic statements were applauded at the Special Summit. He gave the right assessment of the level of ASEAN-Australia relations over the past 50 years, proposed a vision, future orientation and initiatives to boost relations. Vietnam's participation at the summit has contributed to promoting Vietnam's role in ASEAN-Australia relations, and through ASEAN, promoting Vietnam-Australia bilateral relations in a more practical and effective manner.

The official visits to Australia and New Zealand by the Prime Minister and his wife marked an important milestone in relations between Vietnam and the two countries, according to the FM. He added that both Australia and New Zealand appreciated Vietnam's growing position and role in the region and the world, agreed to continue cooperation and support for each other at regional and global forums, for the benefit of the people, for peace, stability and development.
