(VOVworld) - Sixty posters featuring Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty by painters nationwide are on display at an exhibition, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.

The exhibits were selected from a national-level campaign to create placards affirming the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands.
The exhibition also showcases 11 historical maps drawn up by Vietnam and Western nations and a collection of administrative records from the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). These are evidence proving Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, which were found and protected by the Vietnamese people through various eras. Le Ton Thanh, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: “through the exhibit, we hope to help domestic and foreign visitors learn more about the Party and State’s guidelines and the Vietnamese people’s will. This is an activity which contributes to protecting our national maritime sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The exhibition will run until next Sunday.
