Preparations for VESAK 2014 completed

(VOVworld) – Ha Thi Khiet, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, congratulated the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha to mark United Nations Day of 2014 Vesak, the biggest traditional Buddhist holiday.

At Tuesday’s meeting in Hanoi, Khiet praised the organization’s contributions to implementing charity activities, building pagodas in disadvantaged, remote, and island areas. She expressed her hope that the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha will continue to help the nation in socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and the renewal process. Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council, thanked the concern of the Party and state, the authorities at all levels, and other organizations who facilitated the best conditions for it to operate effectively. The Most Venerable Nhieu noted that preparations had been carefully made to welcome domestic and foreign delegates to the VESAK day.
