President Rouhani: Iranians have right to protest but must avoid violence

(VOVWORLD) - Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that Iranian people had the right to criticize but not resort to violence and destroying public properties.

In his first comments about protests, over the past few days, President Rouhani said Iran is a free nation, and based on the Constitution and citizenship rights, and people are completely free to express their criticism and even their protest. He stressed that protesters should focus on solving the country's problems and improving people's lives.

Protests in Iran entered their fourth day as hundreds of demonstrators raised their voices against rising prices and high unemployment. Meanwhile, hundreds of other protestors marched through Iranian cities to support the government.
