Press conference on the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union

(VOVworld) - Head of the National Assembly’s External Relations Committee, Tran Van Hang, has hosted a press conference to update information on the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union in Hanoi from March 28 to April 1.

The event is themed “Sustainable development goals: from words to actions”. Hang said 163 international delegations with 1,600 delegates have registered to participate, including 45 parliament speakers and 50 deputy speakers: “The union’s agenda for this year include a review of the implementation of the millennium development goals towards sustainable development. The IPU has adjusted its activities to meet the public demand in security, social and environmental issues. The event will help Vietnam raise its international prestige on global fronts such as peace, democracy and sustainable development.”
The general assembly will include 67 activities, including the endorsement of resolutions on cyber warfare, global security and peace threats, water management, non-interference in national sovereignty and human rights.
