Prime Minister arrives in Hanoi from the World Economic Forum

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Hanoi on Saturday, concluding his attendance of the 47th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. During his 5-day stay, the Prime Minister participated in 40 activities, in which he delivered presentations at 5 discussions on global and regional issues.

He met with Prime Ministers from 7 countries, leaders of major international organizations, CEO of big groups of WEF, and representatives from foreign media agencies. Addressing the sessions, Mr. Phuc stressed opportunities and challenges of the 4th industrial revolution facing developing countries, including Vietnam. He said Vietnam is restructuring its economy and reforming its growth model to improve productivity and competitiveness, while encouraging start-ups, innovation, and human resource development to capitalize on the 4th industrial revolution. At the plenary session on ASEAN’s role, the government leader said Vietnam has made important and responsible contributions to consolidating ASEAN’s solidarity and consensus and to building a stronger ASEAN Community.

At bilateral meetings, Prime Minister Phuc and partners agreed to boost cooperation between Vietnam and international organizations for Vietnam’s socio-economic development and for global and regional prosperity. He reiterated Vietnam’s determination to build a righteous government and enabling government, which serves the people and businesses.

Attending the WEF annual meeting, Prime Minister Phuc delivered a strong message of Vietnam’s comprehensive reform and international integration in the next 4 years. He also called for the international community’s support for the APEC Year 2017 to be hosted by Vietnam.
