Revisions to Planning Law needed to ensure consistency

(VOVWORLD) - Lawmakers on Wednesday discussed the draft Law on Planning. The biggest change was to replace uncoordinated planning for different localities and sectors with integrated planning.

Deputy Le Minh Chuan representing Quang Ninh province asked for clarification of whether or not urban and rural planning are under the Planning Law.

Chuan said: “To make planning work stable and effective, I suggest that the Planning Law state how to deal with the relationship between development requirements and importance of environmental protection. We should add another principle: all planning activities must serve national interests. We need to harmonize the interests of the nation, localities, and the public with national interest.”

In the afternoon, the National Assembly approved the dismissal of Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia and Government Inspector General Phan Van Sau. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc nominated replacements for the posts.
