The two countries agreed to a truce on Friday evening after 11hours of talks chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

Officials in Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani forces accused each other of firing missiles and rockets at civilian areas Saturday morning, shortly before the ceasefire was due to start.

According to the ceasefire agreement, the two sides have agreed to start negotiations co-chaired by the OSCE Minsk Group, which includes France, Russia, and the US, to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Turkey's Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Monday urged his Russian counterpart to persuade Armenia to withdraw from the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
