Russia calls Turkish troop deployment to Iraq “unlawful incursion”
(VOVworld) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made a phone call with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Saturday to discuss Turkey deploying troops in Iraq despite of Iraq’s objections.

Russia called the Turkish troop deployment “unlawful incursion”. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Russian side expressed its firm position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq”.
Thousands of people, most of them Shiite militias gathered in Baghdad on Saturday, demanding the withdrawal of Turkish troops from northern Iraq.
