(VOVworld) – Overseas Vietnamese in Russia donated approximately 2000 USD to a Fund for Vietnam’s sea and islands at a ceremony held in Yaroslav city on Sunday. Le Duy Ninh, head of the local Vietnamese community briefed the participants on developments in the East Sea  since China’s illegal deployment of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Vietnamese Minister Counselor Nguyen Hung said: "We highly praise the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to support Vietnam’s defense of its maritime sovereignty. We wish you the best of luck and always welcome any contributions to the homeland."

Representatives of Vietnamese youth in Yaroslav read a letter demanding that China withdraw its oil rig and escort ships.
