Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said Slovakia will pay special attention to developing the EU’s single energy market by seeking the European Parliament’s approval of the EC’s proposal. Slovakia will accelerate negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership between the EU and the US, which is facing European opposition. It will have to seek a compromise among EU members to resolve the migrant crisis. An EU discussion in July will focus on broader authority for Frontex, the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States.

Prime Minister Fico said he is excited that Slovakia will become EU’s President and will perform its tasks responsibly.
