Spain: Catalonia goes ahead with plan to unilaterally declare independence

(VOVWORLD) - Heads of the Catalan government continues to boost its plans to unilaterally declare independence from Spain.

This plan might be approved next week regardless of the court’s order and the Spanish government's measures to increase pressure. Although Spain’s Constitutional Court on Thursday ordered the suspension of a regional Catalan parliament’s session to be held on Monday, Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont said he will deliver a speech at this important meeting on Tuesday.

Catalan high-level officials are discussing independence declaration to be submitted to the meeting. There are calls for reconciliation to resolve disputes amid escalating tensions in Spain.
