Tensions between the two Koreas continue

North Korea on Thursday critised South Korea and stated that there would be no talks between the two countries at this time. In an announcement, a Spokesperson for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said that “North Korea did not intend to hold talks from the start and after unwillingly accepting to join the talks they have worked to undermine the proceedings. Earlier, the two countries on the Korean Peninsula agreed on holding the first ministerial Inter-Korean meeting in the last 6 years this week. However, the meeting was canceled due to an announcement from Seoul about its chief representative that upset Pyongyang and said that it would not send the Secretary of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea to join the talks. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Ministry of Unification accused North Korea for undermining the talks and stressed that if North Korea wants to improve inter-Korean relationships, Pyongyang needs to express its sincerely and respect.
