Ukraine agrees to talks with Russia at Belarusian border

(VOVWORLD) -Russia and Ukraine have agreed to hold talks at a venue on the Belarusian border without preconditions.

The Russian delegation was on their way to the Gomel region on the border between Ukraine and Belarus for negotiations. The Ukrainian delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mykola Tochytskyi, was heading to the negotiation venue.

Ukraine agreed to the talks after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko spoke by phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. Later, President Lukashenko contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On Sunday Zelensky said in a statement: "We agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would meet with the Russian delegation without preconditions on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, near the Pripyat River."
