UN Chief’s unannounced visit to Libya

(VOVworld) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon made an unannounced visit to Libya on Saturday to call on conflict parties to hold dialogue in order to end the political crisis there. The visit took place a few weeks after the outgoing government admitted it had lost control of the capital to the rebels. The UN chief met with 13 members of parliament and 13 politicians in Libya. He urged militant groups to cease fire immediately and said there is no other solution to end the political crisis rather than dialogue. He stressed that Libya needs a strong parliament and government that represent all factions.

3 years after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya is facing increasing violence and conflicts between two governments and parliaments.
