The 6+6 Joint Committee, which comprises six members from the House of Representatives based in Tobruk and six members of the High Council of State in Tripoli, is responsible for finalizing rules for the upcoming elections. But the HCS in Tripoli has rejected amendments proposed by the committee, jeopardizing the elections.

Bathily urged the UN to use its influence to prevent an escalation of violence and encourage dialogue between the parties in Libya. He called on all international partners of Libya to support this electoral process as the only way to provide Libya with legitimate institutions and a future of peace, unity, stability, and prosperity.
