US, China meet to reduce tension in bilateral ties

(VOVWORLD) - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday held a meeting in Hanolulu with Yang Jiechi, Head of the Office of the External Relations Committee of the Communist Party of China. 

This was the first meeting between the two countries since the COVID-19 outbreak last December.

The two sides voiced their stances and pledged to work together to realize agreements made between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. According to Reuters, the two sides agreed on the need for full transparency and information sharing to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and prevent future outbreaks.
