US, China, Republic of Korea discuss nuclear issue on Korean Peninsula

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama and President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-Hye discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula in separate phone conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.

The White House said that the US and China emphasized the importance of a strong and united international response to the announcement of nuclear test by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The US and Chinese leaders affirmed that they would coordinate efforts to respond to the DPRK’s nuclear test last month and said they would not accept DPRK as a nuclear weapon state.

Meanwhile, RoK’s President Park Geun-hye said the DPRK’s provocations are a threat to world peace, and called for a positive cooperation from Beijing to address the issue. President Xi Jinping reaffirmed commitments of denuclearization process on the Korean Peninsula and called for a peaceful solution through dialogue.
