At a ceremony in Hanoi to celebrate its 70th founding anniversary on Saturday, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the Academy to create a scientific working environment that respects academic freedom, propose breakthrough financial mechanisms, provide objective and fair evaluation to honor and create development opportunities for capable, dedicated staff.

“The Academy should be an incubator hub for new scientific ideas, for cooperation activities on scientific research, not only with foreign research and training organizations and institutions, but also with departments, agencies, and enterprises across Vietnam,” said Mr. Ha.

Over the past 70 years, the Academy has developed in all aspects and gained many important achievements. From the initial 14 officers and employees, the Academy has nearly 1,700 people, including hundreds with PhD degrees, Associate Professor and Professor degrees.

The Academy's researches have provided scientific and practical arguments for the Party and State’s planning guidelines and policies in the national renewal, socio-economic development, and international integration.

On this occasion, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic awarded the Friendship Medal of the Lao Government to the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
