The head of Vietnam’s delegation, Deputy Finance Minister Truong Chi Trung, said Vietnam is giving priority to stabilizing its macro-economy to prepare for long-term stable growth. He affirmed Vietnam’s unswerving policies on curbing inflation, stabilizing its macro-economy, and maintaining growth at a reasonable level in line with its new growth model, restructuring its economy, and ensuring social welfare. According to Trung, the Vietnamese Government’s economic management efforts have proven effective, fostering steady economic growth while restoring investor confidence. Vietnam has seen a rise in GDP for three consecutive quarters. During the first nine months of 2012, Vietnam saw a foreign trade surplus of 34 million USD, compared to an 8 billion USD trade deficit in the same period last year. Vietnam’s exports to its two largest importers, the US and the European Union, were up.
