Vietnam coast guard attends ReCAAP ISC governing council meeting

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam has demonstrated its responsibility by participating in the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP), Major General Vu Trung Kien said at the ongoing ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC) Governing Council Meeting in Singapore.

Kien who is Deputy Commander in charge of law of the Vietnam Coast Guard said Vietnam is always responsible in combating maritime crimes. He said countries need to be aware of the threat to maritime security posed by piracy and armed robbery at sea.

It’s important, he said, to continue timely and effective cooperation and information sharing and to enhance coordination among countries and with the ReCAAP ISC to ensure security and safety across all maritime routes regionally and globally.
