(VOVworld) - Chief of the General Staff of the People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Do Ba Ty paid working visits to Laos and Cambodia from April 20-27, to promote defense cooperation. The visits were at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army (LPA) Suvon Luongbunmi and the Commander in Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) Gen. Pol Saroeun. During the visits, General Do Ba Ty met with Lao and Cambodian officers to review military and defense cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and between Vietnam and Cambodia last year. They also discussed measures to deploy the bilateral cooperation plans this year with priority given to cooperation in defensive operations. In Laos and Cambodia, General Ty and his entourage visited and laid wreaths at a monument to commemorate Vietnam-Lao’s special fighting solidarity in Champasak province, and a monument to pay tribute to fallen volunteer Vietnamese soldiers in Xihanukvin City in Cambodia. They also visited several military units and bases of the host countries.
