Vietnam, Malaysia bolster defense ties

Earlier, Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh held talks with Mr. Baharum. Both of them acknowledged the practical outcomes of the two countries’ defense cooperation based on agreements reached by the two ministries, including the memorandum of understanding signed in 2008 and the letter of intent signed in 2015.
They agreed to continue implementing their cooperation commitments, particularly the acceleration of completing a cooperation mechanism in the framework of the high-ranking joint committee on defense collaboration and other working groups.
The two deputy defense Ministers reached consensus on increasing bilateral consultations on the sideline of multilateral forums in which both countries participate, such as the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), ADMM Plus, and ASEAN Regional Forum.
