Enkhbold said Mongolia always considers Vietnam a key partner in Southeast Asia. He asked for Vietnam’s support in Mongolia’s bid to become a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Phuc attended the Vietnam-Mongolia business forum where he acknowledged that trade bonds do not match existing potential. Phuc promised all the best possible conditions for Mongolian investors. He said: “Vietnam wants to export farm produce, food, aquatic products, electronics, and especially fruit and vegetables to Mongolia. Vietnamese investors have eyed Mongolia’s mining, technology, and tourism. Other potential fields for stronger bilateral cooperation include high-quality food and mineral products”

Vietnam has supplied coffee, cucumbers, and rice to Mongolia for 20 consecutive years and may send builders to work in Mongolia’s infrastructure construction. The difficulty is high costs due to geographical distance, but the two governments will work together to figure the way forward.
