Vietnam prioritises improving grassroots medical services

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Government prioritises resources to improve grassroots-level clinics towards universal healthcare coverage and realising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien told the 72nd session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva on Tuesday, that in a bid to provide better healthcare services for all Vietnamese people, the Government has developed an ambitious action plan which aims to enhance the capacity of 11,000 communal health clinics. Financial mechanism reforms, infrastructure investment, and human resources training are the primary focus of healthcare improvement, Tien said, adding that Vietnam is constructing an effective healthcare system.

Primary healthcare towards universal healthcare coverage and Sustainable Development Goals is one of the main topics of the World Health Assembly’s 72nd session from Monday to next Tuesday, with 4,000 delegates from 194 WHO member states.
