(VOVworld) – Vietnam and Malaysia have discussed measures to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in rice trading, during the a two-day visit to Malaysia by Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade delegation led by Deputy Minister Tran Tuan Anh. During the visit, which ended Thursday, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation opportunities and measures, ways to accelerate rice exports from Vietnam to Malaysia, and way to expand future cooperation. They also reached consensus on establishing a trade council of businesses from Vietnam and Malaysia. Vietnam - Malaysia relations have improved in all fields, including economic and trade ties. Two-way trade between the two nations saw strong growth in recent years, from 4 billion USD in 2009 to 9 billion USD five years later, and the figure is expected to reach 11 billion USD in 2015. The two sides hope to upgrade their relationship soon to a strategic partnership. Vietnam is Malaysia’s fifth- biggest trade partner in the region, while Malaysia currently ranks third among Vietnam’s largest trade partners in Southeast Asia.
