Vietnam urges ASEAN to pursue shared principles in resolving East Sea issue

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has urged ASEAN countries to enhance solidarity and exhibit more flexibility in dealing with the challenges ahead.

Mr. Minh made the remark at the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) and the ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) on Tuesday ahead of the 33rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Singapore.

He suggested ASEAN continue its focus on maintaining peace and security and its central role in the region. Mr. Minh said ASEAN needs to maintain the agreed-upon principles of ensuring peace, security, and stability in the East Sea, pursuing demilitarization, and the pledge to resolve issues following international law.
