Vietnam, Uzbekistan pledge stronger multifaceted cooperation

During the meeting, President Thuong reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of respecting traditional relationship and multifaceted cooperation with Central Asian countries including Uzbekistan.

The Vietnamese President wished that the Vietnam-Uzbekistan ties would develop more strongly in various fields to meet the benefits of the two countries’ peoples.

He urged for stronger cooperation in economics, trade, education, training, culture exchanges, and tourism, and opening of direct flights between the two countries.

Uzbekistan's President affirmed that Tashkent treasures its ties with Hanoi and wished for the recovery of traditional cooperation, especially in oil and gas, education, training, and culture exchanges.

The two leaders agreed to work closely at multilateral forums including the UN. Uzbekistan wants Vietnam to serve as a bridge to strengthen links with ASEAN while Vietnam wishes to enhance ties with central Asian countries via Uzbekistan.
