Vietnamese-Sino military border talk begins

(VOVworld) – Border defence friendship talks between Vietnam and China took place in Mong Cai City in Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province on Tuesday.

Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh, head of the Vietnamese delegation, said at the meeting that discussions between the two forces had contributed to enhancing friendship, mutual understanding, and bilateral defense relations towards creating an environment of peace, stability, and cooperation between the two armies and peoples. Mr. Vinh said:

The Vietnamese Party, government, people, and military always want and are determined to develop a fine neighboring friendship, and a formula for comprehensive and sustainable cooperation with China. Vietnam is consistent in its guideline considering it one of the top priorities in Vietnam’s foreign policy. We strongly believe that the ties between Vietnam and China will further develop, meeting fundamental hopes and long-term interest of both parties, governments, and peoples.

The Chinese delegation, led by Qi Jianguo, deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, said they wanted to further bilateral trust, considering it a lever to turn the Sino-Vietnamese border into a link for peace, friendship and prosperity. After the talk, Defense Minister Phung Quang Thanh received the Chinese delegation who then visited Tra Co Border Station in Mong Cai city.
