Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien applauded global support for Vietnam’s healthcare sector. She said: “Vietnam desires greater support, both financially and technically. Vietnam has just evolved from a low-income country into a lower middle-income one which possibly falls into the traps of those middle-income countries. So Vietnam wants to learn your experiences in developing heath services, ensuring fair and effective access for people, and obtaining healthcare MDGs such as reducing the fatality rates among mothers and children and malnutrition among children under-5's.”
