(VOVWORLD) - Localities nationwide have held rituals to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the Vietnamese nation.

A ceremony was held at Lac Giao temple, a national historical and cultural heritage site in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province, featuring a drum and gong performance, incense offerings, and a review of the Hung Kings’ merits, the struggles for national independence, and the current cause of building socialism.

Luan Thi Lien, a resident in Buon Ma Thuot city, said: “I joined in making square sticky rice cakes and round sticky rice cakes as offerings to the Hung Kings. We pray the Hung Kings to bless the Vietnamese people with peace, joy, and happiness.”

Residential areas and worship centers in Kon Tum province held ceremonies to worship the Hung Kings and tighten community bonds.

Phan The Ngoc, Head of the Executive Board of Luong Khe Temple, said: “The Vietnamese people honor the tradition of ‘when drinking water, remember its source and the worship of the Hung Kings. We pray for a peaceful nation, happy people, good weather, and prosperity. The commemoration helps young people know more about national history and encourage them to study and work well.”

Ho Chi Minh City held a commemoration of the Hung Kings at the National History and Culture Park with various activities. It is followed by a contest on making square sticky rice cakes, camping, a book festival, performances of martial art and dragon dance, and folk games.
