The northern mountain province of Cao Bang has rich natural resources, good weather, and diverse ethnic cultures.
Cao Bang has focused on three areas of economic development: a sustainable tourism and service industry, smart agriculture and the production and processing of local agriculture specialties, and border trade.
Developing its transportation infrastructure is a top. Over the last 5 years the province has built 2,200 km of roads and 47 bridges to carry goods and passengers to other provinces, districts, tourist sites, border gates, and remote areas.
Cao Bang city has a new look that includes spacious new buildings, wider roads, a river dyke, and parks.
Kim Dong pedestrian road and the Night Cuisine Market are city highlights.
Tourist destinations like Ban Gioc waterfall, Phja Oắc-Phja Đén National Park, Ngườm Pục cave, and Ngườm Ngao cave have been refurbished to attract more tourists.
With its magnificent stone mountains, waterfalls, lakes, and forests, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geographical Park was recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark in 2018. It’s causing Cao Bang’s tourism to soar. The province has 3 national heritages, hundreds of historical sites, and traditional Tay, Nung, Mong, and Dao cultural festivals.
Cao Bang province has trained thousands of people for jobs in community tourism hotel service.
The province welcomed 5 million tourists between 2016 and 2020 and earned approximately 52 million USD from tourism. People’s living conditions have improved and the annual per capita income is now 740 USD.
Cao Bang’s 333km border with China has created a busy border economy. The Tra Linh-Long Ping border gate has been upgraded to an international border gate. A new Ta Lung border gate and Đồng Đăng-Trà Lĩnh highway are being built to make Cao Bang an international transit hub connected to the port of Hai Phong.
The Cao Bang border economic zone has attracted 74 Vietnamese and foreign investment projects, which have generated good jobs for local people.
One of Cao Bang’s strategic goals is promoting local specialties like Nguyen Binh vermicelli, Trung Khanh chestnuts, Thach Han pearls, and Tra Linh tangerines, beef, and black pork.
Cao Bang province has established mass production zones, like the TH Group’s high-tech dairy farming and milk processing project in Quang Hoa district with its herd of 10,000 cows and a milk processing plant with a capacity of 49,000 tons per year.
