Experts forecast results of 2nd DPRK-USA Summit

(VOVWORLD) - The 2nd DPRK-USA Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam, promises to achieve breakthroughs in various aspects, Xu Liping, a senior researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences says.

The two countries may establish liaison agencies, Xu said, which would be a breakthrough from the current lack of diplomatic mechanisms. He predicts that the two sides will reach a specific agreement on speeding up denuclearization, or establish a peace mechanism for the Korean peninsula, but it is unlikely that the US will remove its sanctions on Pyongyang after the Summit.

Professor Faisal Ahmed of India’s FORE School of Management said he is optimistic about the Summit. He said the two sides may outline a detailed roadmap for economic development and bilateral investment which will encourage the removal of US sanctions and provide aid and security assurances to the DPRK.
