Vietnam commemorates Hung Kings’ death anniversary

(VOVworld)-Thousands of people gathered in the northern midland province of Phu Tho on Saturday to attend an incense offering in honor of the Hung Kings, the founders of the Vietnamese nation 4000 years ago. The ceremony is the key component of the ongoing Hung Kings’ Festival. In his address, Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee Chairman Hoang Dan Mac highlighted Vietnam’s achievements in national construction and defense over the past 4 millennia, stressing that generations of the Hung Kings’ successors are resolved to follow the path chosen by the Party and President HCM. “We vow to build a powerful and prosperous nation and to live in peace and friendship with the world. We’ll do whatever we can to uphold the Hung Kings’ spirit”, Mac said.

Scores of events are also underway across Vietnam to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month. People in the central city of Da Nang organized the Hai Chau Communal House Festival to pay tribute to the Hung Kings and those who rendered great services to the nation. Elder Nguyen Van Vinh, a local resident, elaborated: “The festival is the pride of Da Nang people as it shows our tradition of ‘remember the source of water we drink’. The event provides an opportunity for us to honor the founders of the nation”

In the Mekong Delta city of My Tho, the Hung Kings’ death anniversary was marked by a grand ceremony associated with a variety of cultural and sporting activities. Elder Dang Hoang Khai in My Tho said:“We must preserve the tradition of worshipping the Hung Kings. This is a good way to remind the younger generations of their roots.”
