Vietnam strengthens security cooperation with Cambodia, Laos

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received in Hanoi on Thursday for Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, and Somkeo Silavong, Lao Public Security Minister, who have come to Vietnam to attend a meeting of the three countries.

Receiving Mr. Kheng, Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam always backs the Cambodian people and government under the motto “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and long-term and comprehensive cooperation.”  He called on the Vietnamese and Cambodian public security forces to continue coordination to defeat any plots to divide or sabotage the solidarity and friendship between the two countries and to support each other at multilateral forums. The Prime Minister said public security forces of Vietnam and Cambodia should work closely with relevant agencies to safeguard their shared border for peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

While receiving Mr. Silavong, Prime Minister Phuc urged the two public security sectors to collaborate in implementing the agreements signed by Vietnamese and Lao senior leaders to ensure each country’s security and social order. Mr. Phuc underscored the importance of fighting crime, defeating drugs, weapons, and explosives trafficking rings, and not letting any hostile forces use the other side’s territory to threaten the security and social order of the other.
