The Hoa Bun tree, scientifically named Crateva religiosa, in Dinh Thon village of Nam Tu Liem district, is up to 300 years old and recognised as treasure by many generations in the village.
The 30m high tree is noted for its large, thick foliage which brings cool air to the village.
The beautiful sight of the blossoming tree tends to stun passers-by every April.
The flowers, consisting of white and yellow petals, are widely known by their Vietnamese names as Bach Hoa and Man Man.
The tree can be seen in full bloom between March and April each year.
Visitors are able to enjoy the pleasant aroma coming from the flowers. Indeed, when they start to bloom, the pistils look similar to noodles.
This species is often found in Quang Nam, Ninh Thuan, and Thua Thien-Hue provinces in central Vietnam but rarely known in Hanoi.

When in full bloom, the tree serves to create a romantic scene within the village.

The tree’s charming beauty creates a peaceful state of mind for onlookers.
