Since 1997, when it was separated from Quang Nam province, Da Nang has undergone rapid development, becoming the political, economic, and social center of Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.

The Han River bridge was built on September 2, 1998 and completed on March 29, 2000, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Da Nang's liberation. 

Han River bridge is a source of pride of Da Nang people.

Vietnam's first cable-stayed swing bridge was designed and constructed by Vietnamese engineers and workers. Today, it remains the only swing bridge in Vietnam.

The Dragon Bridge across the Han River was inaugurated on the 38th anniversary of Da Nang’s Liberation Day, March 29, a symbol that no tourist can miss when coming to Da Nang.
