14th National Assembly concludes second session

(VOVworld) - The 14th National Assembly (NA) wrapped up its second session on Wednesday, completing its agenda with a number of important issues.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said deputies reviewed the socio-economic development and State budget plans for 2016, and economic restructuring between 2011 and 2015. NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said: “National Assembly deputies pointed out existing shortcomings and made proposals to develop the economy sustainably, assure social security, improve the people’s living standard, and ensure political stability. The NA also decided to halt the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project”.

The National Assembly adopted three laws, 11 resolutions, and gave opinions on 14 other bills.

During the session, the NA convened question & answer sessions on issues of public concern, especially those concerning industry and trade, environment and natural resources, education-training, and home affairs.

Ms. Ngan said that besides the key agenda, the NA also debuted groups of female deputies, young deputies, and friendship parliamentarians, and launched other important external activities. Ms. Ngan said: “National Assembly deputies need to be more united and creative in law building and supervising. It is essential to listen to people’s ideas, and aspirations and reflect them to the National Assembly, government, and related agencies”.
