The protests, which left at least 10 people dead and 170 people injured in the capital city of Niamey and Zinder, also saw a Christian school and orphanage set alight.

Over 1 million people took part in a rally protesting the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad in Gronzny city of the Chechen Republic. In some countries with a large Muslim population, including Pakistan and Algeria, many protests have broken out.
