Speaking at the 7th Regional Logistics Forum in Hai Phong on Monday, Deputy PM Dung said Vietnam’s logistics sector has grown by 14-16% a year, contributing 4.5-5% to GDP. Logistics costs have fallen to 16% of GDP, he said:
“We need to shift from developing logistics within administrative boundaries to a regional approach based on economic regions, corridors, and supply chains", Deputy PM Dung said, adding that this is important to the Politburo’s plan for developing Vietnam’s six economic regions.
Logistics has no administrative boundaries, he said, adding that "We cannot build separate logistics systems in each locality. they need to work together, improve connectivity, and share resources effectively.”
The Forum discussed the challenges facing logistics in the Red River Delta –transport infrastructure, connectivity, costs, operational capacity, and regional coordination. Participants suggested ways to develop green, modern logistics, speed up digital transformation, and improve the region’s competitiveness.
