The statement comes amid mounting US and Israeli threats of renewed attacks on Iran, while tensions continue to spread to other hot spots in the Middle East.

During a televised event in Tehran, Araghchi said that Iran has already thought about the post-conflict period and that the US and Israel will achieve no different outcome by continuing to attack Iran.

"We must accept that new realities are taking hold. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be the same, and the management of the strait will no longer be the same," Araghchi said.

Last Friday, US President Donald Trump said Washington "may do another little Epic Fury", referring to the US-Israeli attack on Iran that began on February 28.

Military actions have subsided in recent weeks following an April 8 ceasefire agreement, but tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has claimed control over the strait since the conflict began, and has regularly targeted vessels that attempt a crossing without Iran’s authorization. In response, the US set up its own naval blockade of Iranian ports.
