This is the delegation’s first activities during their 12-day trans-national tour. The guests were keen on the development of the VOV over the past few years. Radio Voice of Vietnam has developed with its multimedia approach: radio, TV, print and online newspapers. VOV has met people’s demands for information on all areas of life. Chau Hong Thuy, editor-in-chief of Russia’s Journey Companions magazine and website, said: "The Vietnamese community in Russia has a long history of press and communication. In the 1980s, we had an embassy magazine and newspaper, and since then we have published various newspapers. We have cooperated with VOV for a long time. The VOV correspondent in Russia provides us with articles which are invaluable resources for our input".

Lawyer Dinh Viet Tu, editor-in-chief of Huong Viet newspaper in the US, offered his views: "I’m very happy to be here to learn more about VOV. The radio station has made significant changes, with more overseas broadcasting time and more focus on foreign languages. VOV has signed contracts with international news agencies. There are many local news agencies in the US which are followed closely by the people. It’s a good idea to cooperate with these agencies to get more information about the life of the Vietnamese community living there".

Le Vu from the US’s Viet Weekly newspaper expressed his hope for more cooperation between news agencies to improve work efficiency: "Although I don’t know much about VOV, I have good impressions about VOV, because it is operating on a large scale and is on the path of development. Living abroad for more than 30 years, I feel so proud to see my homeland developing strongly and opening in many areas. The press plays an important role, linking Vietnam with the outside world, and especially in reflecting the differences between Vietnam and other countries".

On Tuesday, the Vietnamese overseas journalists delegation will participate in a seminar on the press’ role in improving the efficiency of teaching and learning Vietnamese for Vietnamese overseas, organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.
