Radio the Voice of Vietnam marks its 68th anniversary

(VOVworld) – Radio the Voice of Vietnam held a ceremony to celebrate its 68th anniversary on September 7th. General Director Nguyen Dang Tien reviewed VOV’s achievements and confirmed its continued role as an important revolutionary media organization of the Party and the State.

VOV’s channels are gradually working towards modernization and professionalism. Operating in 4 formats: radio, TV, print and online, VOV offers listeners alternate access to information sources. The establishment of VOV’s TV channel, traffic information channel, online newspaper and the website of the Overseas Service has demonstrated the organization’s steady development over the years. General Director Tien said VOV will implement many new projects in the years to come. These will include the upgrading of a number of key radio channels such as the Traffic Information Channel, the Overseas Service, the Ethnic Language Channel, and the National Assembly Channel. VOV will also set up a bureau in the Czech Republic. General Director Nguyen Dang Tien says: “Over the past 68 years, VOV has continued to be an effective tool of the Party and State and a close reliable friend of the people. Generations of VOV’s leaders and staff have been nurturing our traditions and are renovating ourselves to become part of the new era of integration and the vigorous development of the media.”

In anticipation of VOV’s 70th anniversary in 2015, Deputy General Director Vu Hai launched a special emulation movement with 70 projects in order to turn VOV into a leading multimedia group in Vietnam. To mark this occasion, 45 collectives and individuals were honored for their outstanding performance and the Overseas Service was presented with the Order of Independence, first class.
