The casting was done meticulously to depict the image of President Ho Chi Minh from a boy named Nguyen Sinh Cung to a young man named Nguyen Tat Thanh.

Born in Nghe An province, which is also the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, writer Nguyen The Ky managed to depict the President in a real and appealing manner. Ho Chi Minh has been the main theme in many works but Mr. Ky has turned his story into an historical epic.

“The biography of President Ho Chi Minh has already been covered by historians, and researchers. But, in terms of literature, it must be creative and imaginative. We mainly focus on the inner soul of the character,” said Mr, Ky.

With a duration of 120 minutes, the Vietnam Reformed Opera Theatre recreates vignettes from the first 20 years of President Ho Chi Minh’s life. Nguyen Sinh Cung was born in the middle of May lotus season in Nghe An province. But, the turning point for his family and Vietnam’s history changed his perspective, and thus he became a great man.

“For me, this is a successful work. I have tried my best and I think it also depends on the audience’s viewpoint,” said author Nguyen The Ky.

The play features moving scenes from when Nguyen Sinh Cung was born, growing up in Sen village, turning into the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh who recalled his relationship with a young girl named Hue, and finally saying goodbye to his loved ones to start his journey for national salvation. The colors, sights, sounds, and movement of “No Nuoc Non”, including the choreography and lighting to its meticulous and timely stage direction, tantalizes audiences with its modern production.

“It is like a party of sounds, bringing a great experience to the audience of different kinds of Vietnamese folk music genres in one show,” said People's Artist Trieu Trung Kien, Head of the Vietnam Reformed Opera Theater and Director of “No Nuoc Non” play.

"No Nuoc Non" is the first installment of a three part stage production, "Nuoc Non Van Dam " (Ten Thousand Miles of the Homeland), based on the life of President Ho Chi Minh. The following two parts, which will focus on Nguyen Tat Thanh's journeys abroad and his return to Vietnam to lead the revolution, are expected to be released in 2023 and 2024.
