The alliance was established to help localities and travel companies overcome the damage the Covid-19 outbreak has caused to Vietnam’s tourism and boost tourism when the epidemic is over. The VTA selected the 4 central provinces which have remained immune to Covid-19 to implement the tourism stimulus programs.

The first phase of the program will last until June. After that, changes will be made based on the current situation and expectations of localities and the program may last until the end of this year or until next year. The VTA has put no limit on the number of enterprises who can join the alliance.

The tours will be around the four provinces and last 3 to 4 days with prices expected to be 40% below normal. Vu The Binh, Deputy Director of the Association, said: “Discounts are the key to the stimulus program. Participating firms must promise to reduce prices but not the quality of their services because we are drawing tourists to Vietnam not conducting a clearance sale. Alliance members will monitor one another. Those who fail to abide by their commitment will be removed from the programs."

The VTA also released Safe Travel Criteria for the Covid-19 epidemic asking localities and enterprises to ensure safe destination, safe accommodation, safe entertainment, safe food, safe services and safe transportation for tourists
