(VOVWORLD) - Over the past 10 years, the “Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese goods” campaign has changed the awareness of business and consumers in Quang Ninh province. In the past,  Binh Lieu vermicelli of Quang Ninh province was only known by the locals or those who visited Binh Lieu district, because it was produced on the small household scale. Thanks to the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program, Binh Lieu vermicelli has become famous far and wide.

Binh Lieu Vermicelli Company, the first and biggest vermicelli production facility in Binh Lieu mountain district with an output of 400 tons a year, has expanded its distribution market to provinces nationwide to Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Vu Thi Ha and Nguyen Thuy Nga, residents of Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province, said:

“I have consumed Binh Lieu vermicelli for a long time because of its excellent quality and taste. It remains firm even if it is cooked again and again. It is sold at a reasonable price while its quality is guaranteed”

“I often buy Binh Lieu vermicelli because it is a product under the OCOP program which allows me to know about its origin and quality. I believe that if domestic businesses pay more attention to product quality and competitive pricing, more consumers will opt for Vietnamese goods.”

The “Vietnamese prioritize Vietnamese goods” campaign and the OCOP program in Quang Ninh have contributed to increasing the prestige of Vietnamese products in general, and Quang Ninh’s farm produce in particular. Some products of Quang Ninh have become the top choice of consumers nationwide.

In the past 10 years, Quang Ninh has organized nearly 200 trade fairs, exhibitions, and other trade events featuring Vietnamese goods and local products in particular, earning hundreds of thousands of USD in revenue from each event.

Vu Binh Minh, Deputy Director of the provincial Trade Promotion Center, said: “There are many OCOP branded products in the market, but in fact they haven’t all been accounted for. Agencies tasked with inspection should increase oversight of the facilities producing OCOP products to ensure that they strictly follow the standards for quality, packaging, and food safety. It’s necessary to control the process from the beginning.”
