10th ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting begins

 (VOV)-The 10th ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting with the theme “Strengthening Dynamic Partnership, Sharing Dynamic Growth” opened today/ on Monday in Bangkok.

The meeting was attended by 43 finance ministers and 7 international organizations including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Development Bank, and the European Central Bank.  Vietnam’s delegation led by Deputy Finance Minister Truong Chi Trung attended the meeting. On addressing the meeting’s opening, Kittiratt Na Ranong, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, stressed on the importance of cooperation and support between the Asia and the Europe, especially ASEM’s mechanisms on trade, finance, investment, and education.  Kittiratt said that due to the European financial crisis, most Asian countries are looking for ways to develop, as well as creating  the right conditions to back the recovery and reconstruction of Europe. This can be done by boosting  and encouraging Asian-European trade and investment. The Meeting ended with the release of the joint statement.
