14th National Assembly wraps up its last session

(VOVWORLD) - The last session of the 14th National Assembly concluded in Hanoi on Thursday after completing its approval of the new line-up in the State apparatus.

Addressing the closing session, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue hailed major achievement made by the recent term of the legislative body saying it left outstanding impression in national construction and development. The National Assembly deputies have shown their confidence in the newly elected leaders to excel their innovation and accountability.

The National Election Council has completed its personnel line-up.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue:  “The personnel completion during this working session is a major transition so that state agencies could fulfil their tasks by law. Priorities should be given to the social economic tasks for this year, the Covid-19 pandemic control efforts and the organization of the National Assembly and People’s Council elections in the 2021-2026 term to ensure its success on May 23.”

During this session, the National Assembly passed the revised Law on Drugs Prevention and Control, the last in its 14th tenure.

Chairman Hue called for continued aspiration to contribute by the deputies in the new term: “The closing of the 14th National Assembly term prepares for the continuation of tasks and tradition of the legislative body. We are confident that the valuable lessons and progress made over the last 75 years would solidify the 15th National Assembly’s position as the supreme representative body of the people and the highest powerhouse of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.”

Also on Thursday, the National Assembly adopted a resolution approving the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint 12 new ministers and Government members for the 2016 – 2021 tenure.
