270 mainlanders visit Spratly islands, DK1 Platform

(VOVWORLD) -Working Group No. 21 of more than 270 members have just returned from their voyage to Truong Sa (Spratly) island district, Khanh Hoa province, and the DK1 Platform on Vietnam’s southern continental shelf.

During their stay from May 18 to 24, the delegation members, who are representatives from central and provincial agencies, businesses, artists and journalists, visited Len Dao, Sinh Ton Dong, An Bang, Da Dong C, Da Tay B, Truong Sa and DK1/9 Platform (Ba Ke). They learned about the daily life and duties of officers, soldiers, and people living on the island.

During the journey in Truong Sa and DK1 Platform, the working group organized art exchange programs to mark the 134th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19) and a memorial in tribute of heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for sea and island sovereignty on Len Dao Island.

The Navy Command, central and local agencies presented islanders with practical and meaningful gifts worth more than 120,000 USD.
