27th ASEAN Summit to adopt various key documents

(VOVworld) – Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman has told reporters that the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings will take place from Wednesday until this weekend.

The summit will draw leaders from ten ASEAN member nations and dialogue partners, including Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), New Zealand, Russia, and the US. The UN Secretary General will attend the event.

A series of related activities will be held in the framework of the event, including the 18th ASEAN+3 Summit between ASEAN and Japan, the RoK and China, the 10th East Asia Summit (EAS) Summit, and the 7th ASEAN-UN Summit.

ASEAN leaders will also sign the Kuala Lumpur declaration on ASEAN Vision to 2025 and discuss regional and international issues of shared concern.

18 important documents are scheduled to be approved during the summit. ASEAN leaders will attend a signing ceremony on the ASEAN declaration against trafficking in persons, particularly women and children.

Malaysia will hand over the ASEAN presidency to Laos.
